Outlook Express Spam Filter

This page will detail how to set up Microsoft Outlook Express Message Rules to move emails detected as spam to your deleted items folder. If you want to put these emails in another folder, then you must create a folder in Outlook and then substitute that folder name with the deleted items folder in the below tutorial.

Please note that you must be subscribed to the Compwise Anti-Spam service for this to work.

Open Microsoft Outlook Express and click the Tools menu. Select Message Rules from the list and then select Mail.

In the rule conditions box tick the box next to Where the subject contains specific words. In the rule Actions box tick the box next to Move it to the specified folder.

In the Rule Description box you should have text the same as in the image below. Click on the text contains specific words. This will open up the specific words window.

Enter SPAM: ( you must enter the colon after spam) into the top box and click Add. Click OK. This will take you back to the New Mail Rule window.

Click the word Specified in the Rule Description box. This will open up the folder list box.

Select the Deleted Items folder ( or the folder of your choice ) and click OK. This will take you back to the new mail rule window.

In the Name of the Rule box type spam. Check that your Rule Description box looks like the image below. Click OK.

Make sure that your new filter has a tick next to it and click OK.

Your Rule should now be set.
